Yawn...
I'm really tired and I've not touched my bass for about two days. Yeah Alex, I know your gonna kill me. If you ever read this. And I'm bored. But on a happier note, I feel that the song I was doing recently is about done. Yay.
I still want to tell Mr Ong he's not being fair at all. Sorry Alex for the trouble.

Part IV: Delays And Injuries
Kronus Alpha fell into uneasy rest, four awake while four slept. Shifts were shorter but that also meant sleep was affected.
By the sixth day, Kronus Alpha had been treated like dogs, tired with various injuries. For it was a nightly occurrence in which some ‘Bone Spectres’ as they have been called, came knocking at the door. Appearing only at night, it was literally a living nightmare. The more corpses consumed by the construct, the greater it grows in size and the longer it’s blades. But at any one time, only five Bone Spectres would appear. The defenses held, but progress on the Generator would inevitably delayed.
On the sixth night, Johan suffered a broken right arm from a Bone Spectre blow. Alicia could patch it but it would take time to heal.
To make matters worse, there was also the problem of required parts. It meant going to the other parts of Darkday and also to enter the now abandoned Dawn IIV and Incarius Piriote. This required manpower, in which they did not have. As they needed at least four to be on guard at night, and Johan was injured and Alicia could not leave, only two were able to leave the Darkday for short periods in the day, scouring for parts in the other two cruisers. It turned out that the other cruisers were, as Arteloc put it, ‘…crawling with the assholes in wherever our mates died. If only I found my spellbook, I would roast them all for bacon in the morning…’
A week passed.
By now, Kronus Alpha terribly needed a break from the scorching heat in the day and the continuous battling at night. The Generator was almost fixed and so was Darkday. The only thing required was to get the Generator on the ground for it to tap the energy of the planet itself.
That was the hard part.
Kronus Alpha finally obtained a full day of rest on the fourteenth day. From morning to night, they rested and hoped that the cruelty would end. For one night they would not be besieged.
They walked out with the Generator being pushed by Johan in the center. The hot sun shone brightly, like their hopes of returning. Nearing the end of light, they set up four campfires, around the Generator. By setting up at the base of Darkday and clearing it and fixing it days before, all they had to do was to wait for the Generator to establish communication. They waited for minutes, then hours. As the sun set and darkness engulfed them again, their spirits dampened and sank, for it would be another sleepless night.
And in the distance, about three kilometers away, a flare shot into the sky. One that looked human. But as it dispersed into the sky, an eerie screech pierced the still night. That sounded like a female. A dying one in the distance. More and more screams of terror and death resounded in the sand dune, ear-splitting inhumane cries mixed with the shouts and screams of real humans.
‘Captain! Make it stop!’
‘Kara, these are the sounds of those we will fight soon. They have not ignored us. Vigilance my dear. For but I know they will come. But for now, sleep. I’m damn sure they won’t come tonight. We heal and rest for yet another day. But we will live.’

Part III: First Impressions Matter
Night was falling. The falling black enveloped the dark sky. There were still some brighter stars visible from the planet surface. A gaping hole in the Darkday’s hull allowed the matt black sky to be visible. A strong gale was blowing outside.
The remnants of Kronus Alpha huddled together around the heater, in the centre of the room. A weary gunner, Peter, stood guard at the only entrance to the room. The room used to be the commander’s quarters, but it was the perfect impromptu base. The Generator, atop its moving table, had been shifted into the room, to be guarded better and also to allow Johan to fix it when he was awake.
Leon, a melee specialist, was donning his armour to prepare for his shift, when a bright white spectral passed overhead the breach. Peter loaded his heavy flamer while Kara took out her sniper laser rifle. The white light appeared again, this time, closer and more appeared. Arteloc lifted the focus staff given to him and wore his rune emblazoned cloak.
‘They must be scouts… Owen, get that missile launcher out. Wait for my signal.’ Muttering the order under his breath, Nova unslung his plasma assault rifle and loaded in a full clip.
The rest of the twelve armed themselves silently. Johan took out two laser bunch gloves and continued work on the Generator. Alicia, their medic, loaded her flaming katana with a full fuel cell and kept it humming silently on standby. The other four took out their standard issue laser rifles and one unsheathed two deadly diamond edged long knives. They were armed and ready.
Light shone from down the empty corridor. A metallic figure moved stealthily towards the room. The three metre tall figure was a bright silver in colour. A sharp blade half a metre long protruded from each arm where hands should be. Two more appeared behind it. They looked humanoid. But in the entire slivery construct, the eyes gleamed red.
Suddenly, they disappeared.
‘Spread out men. You four, guard the door. First impressions count and I intend to show them no matter how inferior we humans are, we are not to be trifled with!’
As the echoes of Captain Nova died away, the first one appeared next to the guard closest to the door with a laser rifle. Within a split second, it brought down the two blades it wielded and sliced the guard in three vertical parts. The blades ripped open the body and using its mouth, the creature drained up the blood of its fallen prey.
At this point, the other two appeared and did the same to the other three guards. The one with the knives chipped off part of the metallic armour encasing the appiration, before meeting the gory fate that had befallen upon the other three before him.
‘LET LOOSE ALL WEAPONS!’
Before the scream even finished Nova fired a shot into the face of the first beast, melting the beast and felling it instantly. A missile struck the next creature squarely in the chest, blowing it to smithereens. The final creature was set a flame by Peter and the survivors stood back, as the beast writhed and collapsed.
‘What were those things? I mean Captain Nova, it was just so… weird. Like it was not really alive.’
‘Drop it Arteloc. More would come soon. Get some rest…It maybe our last.’

Part II: The First Mistake
Three weeks passed. No one in the hibernation chambers stirred. The cruisers were moving through space. It was a smooth journey. A week till the hibernation ended and the cruisers be manned for the entrance of the sector’s only planet. Patriotic Saints.
Captain Nova awoke before the others, along with his officers on varying cruisers. They were to do one final check before the last warp jump.
It was then that they realized the flaw.
‘All men awaken! Your lives depend on the success of this journey! And now its all in jeopardy!’
The Captain’s message swam through the unconscious minds of all those in slumber.
The fleet were six sectors away from their target, missing by four. They should only be two sectors away. The situation was bad. It could never get worse.
‘Men. Head for the only planet in this sector. We set up our communications here to contact Control to rectify the mistake. We shall make no error. But reckless fools we are not. Incarius Piriote and Dawn IIV shall follow me and we shall enter the atmosphere first. The rest of the fleet, wait for twelve hours.’
The command was passed. The fleet waited in orbit.
The three ships descended. As the Darkday passed through the atmosphere, a large ruby red beam seared into the void of space, cutting a cruiser in half. And more red beams soon followed.
‘WHAT WAS THAT?!’ a frantic Kara screamed through the RADIO
‘It seems to be a naval laser. Fired from what now seems to be a platform in the ocean below. Careful Arteloc, we need to eliminate the ship but it seems at this height, we would get shot easily. Alright Kara and Arteloc, we move to the landmass eastwards to the laser.’
‘But what about the others in orbit?’
‘It is one which we can’t assist anymore. Every second we talk, more and more beams destroy our fleet. We are going to be the only survivors. The creatures down there seem to be human. Or at least sentient. Careful men.’
And they spiraled downwards.
The remnants of Kronus Alpha landed in a sand dune, where life was inexistent.
‘Captain, it is safe here, no life detected and the atmosphere is suitable for our survival. We could camp here and send out a distress call.’
‘That’s the problem Arteloc, the Generator is fried. And all we have is sand and sand stretching out towards the distant sun for the sector. Not to mention the amount of corpses scattered and damage the landing did to our cruisers. We are left with only twelve people. And such, only one Techmaster. This sucks big time.
‘What’s your name Techmaster?’
‘Johan, Captain.’
‘I need you to establish one defensible room in the Darkday. We camp there. After today, we check out the damage. And try to fix that Generator.
‘Mark my words men, this would only be the first mistake…’
And the remnants of Kronus Alpha trudged into the Darkday, where the would spend nights and days.

Part I: The Takeoff
The journey was to begin. The preparations were done. Co-ordinates were set. The course was plotted. And the rise in chatter amongst the men and women shown the increasing nervousness and impatience of the men. Of the men assembled to partake in the send off for Kronus Alpha.
It was to be a simple mission. All they had to do was to warp through space and time to the sector Patriotic Saints. Kronus Alpha was to establish communications and secure the planet for the humans to live in the future. To colonize those planets. That was all. Forty- six cruisers, led by cruisers Darkday, Incarius Piriote and Dawn IIV. Armed to the teeth and filled to the brim with supplies required for at least a decade without income for a hundred men. That was their only objective. Short and sweet.
But simple? That was to be and will forever be, the greatest understatement mankind has ever made. For that fateful voyage, it was to be remembered to be the first ever encounter with the long and writhing hand of The Enemy…
Captain Nova was to commandeer the Darkday cruiser, the greatest and grandest of all cruisers. And as his seconds, Lieutenants Arteloc and Kara. Each were to be in the cockpit of the Incarius Piriote and the Dawn IIV respectively. Each cruiser had about fifty individuals. All had a great amount of supplies. The overall cost for this trip was to take only a couple of billions in preparations. They Were just to transport the Generator, the transmitter for the Hyperpulse relay system.
Yet for all that was human, there was to be error. Is mankind really imperfect?
On the Darkday, the Rendering Audio Derived In Orbit, a.k.a. the RADIO, crackled to life.
‘This is Ground Control. Come in Darkday.’
‘This is Captain Nova. Reporting in Darkday, Ground C.’
‘All systems clear to go?’
‘Yes. Our chance at life anew, away to some forsaken planet to re-inhabit, begins in 5…4…3…2…1… For mankind and the future! We depart now!’
As cheers erupted from the ground and the warp engines flared a sapphire blue, a lone Techmaster, 314, discovered a minor mistake. By the time 314 made it to the parade and spilled the ill news, the fleet had disappeared, to the edge of the system. Out of RADIO range and with only a receiver for the long-range Hyperpulse signals to be sent from the Generator onboard Darkday, they could only wait.
For they, were now alone, and now, Kronus Alpha would be encountering man’s greatest foe. The power of the Dark Gods was infinite.
It was too late. It had begun…
